There has been much written and discussed about the need for humidification and most people readily agree to its need based on health, static control, and problems with hygroscopic materials. However, if some basic principles are ignored in the selection and installation of the humidification system, problems will occur that may offset the advantages of a properly humidified atmosphere. Therefore, this paper will discuss the basic principles that must be considered when sizing and installing humidification equipment.
