This paper describes a project initiated by the Program for Computer Graphics of CornellUniversity to apply computer graphic techniques to a sophisticated thermal analysis algorithmin an effort to enhance its utility. Computer graphics was chosen because it is a means ofdata communication which is consonant to the human user. By performing the communication inthis convenient format, the task of translation to numerical format falls to the high speeddata manipulative capabilities of the computer. The resulting set of programs, the GraphicLoad Analysis System, consists of interactive computer graphic input routines, an analysisprogram based upon the NBSLD program developed by the National Bureau of Standards, and automatedgraphing output routines, all linked by a common data base.
