The primary objective of this project is to establish measurement correction factors and a precise measurement technique for accuratelydetermining the air flow rate through heating and cooling coils. The velocity of the air stream will be determined at several locations by using a rotating vane anemometer in contact with the coil face. From these readings an average coil face velocity can then be determined. The correction factor will be determined by accurately measuring the identical volume airflow rate somewhere else in the coil system, dividing it by the coil face area, and then dividing this true face velocity by the average rotating vane anemometer velocity. The project has been divided into two phases and this report covers the first phase of the project. The first phase involves the determination of the types of coils in use and includes the development of a research plan and a detailed test procedure. The second phase will consist of the necessary tests and compilation and presentation of data.
